Verifly Mobile Travel Application

Navigating travel has required a bit more preparation since countries have opened back up after closing for a portion of the pandemic. We like to travel the Caribbean and have discovered a mobile and online app that decreases counter time at the airport. Verifly, www.myverifly.com, collects your vaccination and or testing information and then pre qualifies you as having met the requirements to travel. We fly out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale for trips to the Caribbean and we have noticed extremely long lines at airline departure counters as passengers are manually verifying with the airline that they have met the requirements to travel to a particular country. Each Caribbean country has their own set of unique entry requirements and often the resorts do not share or communicate entry information well. Often this is due to requirements changing week to week or month to month.

Verifly helps by presenting you step by step tasks to meet entry requirements. From our experience using the app, being pre qualified through Verifly was like having a VIP pass at the airport. We had access around the main line of travelers waiting to approach the departure counter which probably cut down 45 minutes or more of wait time.

Verifly is simple to use, you download the app to a mobile device and fill out the fields to set up your account including a photo of yourself. Once you have access to the home screen you simply select the Add new button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and select a mode of travel; Flight, Cruise, Event, or other.

After selecting a mode of travel or event you choose your destination by scrolling alphabetically or by using the search bar. Once you select a country you will be informed whether or not that nation has any entry requirements that you must meet. For the purpose of this blog I selected Costarica and was informed that there were no specific requirements and that I did not need to use the app to fly. So then I moved on to Aruba and was told that there were online imigration and customs forms that needed to be filled out for all passengers over the age of 12 which prompted me to visit the appropriate website.

When we traveled to Turks and Caicos in April, we needed to have COVID-19 testing as well as medical travel insurance and an acceptance letter from the government of Turks and Caicos that we have met their entry requirements. Verifly created a checklist of these documents so that I had a concise reference of tasks to be completed prior to travel. As I acquired each piece of required documentation, I uploaded the document to the application. After 10-30 minutes I would receive a green check mark in the mobile app which meant that the document I uploaded was valid and verified by Verifly. After I was verified I added my travel companions and uploaded documentation for each of them. You will receive an email that your document has been verified so that you do not need to continuously check the app while you wait.

If something is wrong with a piece of your documentation or if Verifly can not read a document clearly you will get an email informing you that the document has not been accepted and what needs to be fixed.

While writing this blog I have checked some of our favorite destinations and I realize that the entry requirements are beginning to go away throughout the Caribbean. But many countries are now going to online pre entrance screening vrs using the paper forms passed out by air crews for passengers to fill out while they wait for the plane to descend and land.
